In three of my papers, written in collaboration with (subsets of) Barthel, Beaudry, Bobkova,听Goerss, Henn, Hill, and Pham, there appear three ways in which representation spheres of specific finite听or profinite groups describe interesting elements in chromatic Picard groups, including the quintessential听Picard group of the K(n)-local category. I will describe these representation spheres, and discuss some听questions inspired by their presence.
